Overcoming Controversy
Beyoncé’s venture into Country music initially faced some backlash. But, when an Oklahoma country radio station refused to play her songs, the station manager soon corrected his error and added “Texas Hold ‘Em” to the playlist. Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, stood by her daughter’s musical exploration and emphasized Texas’s rich Black cowboy culture.
