Mouse Secretly Filmed Keeping British Man’s Shed Tidy Every Night. For nearly two months, a mouse has been stealthily organizing a man’s shed without his knowledge. Rodney Holbrook, a wildlife photographer from Builth Wells in Powys, Wales, observed his misplaced items consistently being returned to their original positions overnight.
Curious about this phenomenon, Holbrook installed a night vision camera on his workbench to unravel the mystery. The captured footage echoed scenes from the animated film Ratatouille (2007), where a clever rodent secretly manages a restaurant kitchen.
Reflecting on the ongoing occurrence, the 75-year-old Holbrook shared with the BBC, “This has been happening for months now. I’ve dubbed this diligent mouse the ‘Welsh Tidy Mouse.’ Initially, I noticed food intended for birds ending up in some old shoes stored in the shed, prompting me to set up the camera.”

Footage from the night vision camera revealed the diligent little creature collecting an array of items – clothes pegs, corks, nuts, bolts – and neatly arranging them in a tray on Holbrook’s workbench. Holbrook, fascinated, conducted experiments by leaving out different objects to test the mouse’s capabilities. To his amazement, the mouse adeptly handled each item, even carrying cable ties to their designated spot.

“It was meticulous, moving various items into the designated box – plastic bits, nuts, bolts. Now, I don’t bother with tidying as I know the mouse will take care of it. I intentionally leave things out, and by the morning, they are back in their place. Almost every night, the mouse diligently tidies up.”
