In the world of stand-up comedy, 2023 Grammy Award host Trevor Noah is one of the pinnacles of comedy who has broken boundaries to shine on the global stage. Noah is Multilingual

Trevor Noah is one of the comedians who can speak several languages fluently. A native of South Africa, the legendary show host speaks English, Afrikaans, Zulu, Sotho, Xhosa, and Tswana. He also speaks German. In most of his past shows, the 2023 Grammy Award host Trevor Noah has been able to incorporate some of the languages to his shows in English to entertain his fans.

Noah started building his career in show hosting 14 years ago in South Africa. He was born in the South African country and spent the majority of his younger years in the country, albeit with a lot of challenges occasioned by apartheid rule at the time. However, not even the tough experiences he had in his childhood could stop him from becoming one of the greatest show hosts in the country. The 2023 Grammy Award Show host Trevor Noah entered the world of show hosting in 2009 during the 2009 South Africa Film and Television Awards.  

His show hit one million viewers in a single week

The 2023 Grammy Award Host is prolific on television screens and his show hit one million views in a single week on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” in 2017. But this has been coming. It was a journey that took him sweat, sheer hard work, and tears to build. The signs of his success started flickering back in 2009 when he hired a 1, 100 seat theatre in Johannesburg to begin a solo show. No one had imagined that the show host would pull out the largest comic show in South Africa at the time. The show was sold out while its DVD also attracted massive numbers. From the start, he indicated that he is not just an apprentice but a master of the art of comedy. During the Grammys, Noah was a standout perfomer. According to the Los Angeles Times, Noah’s perfomance was witty and kept attendees entertained throughout the event.

Noah is also a Grammy Award nominee

While he has grazed the Grammy Awards in different capacities, 2023 Grammy Award host Trevor Noah was also once nominated for the awards in 2020. He was nominated for Best Comedy Album for the audio counterpart of his Netflix standup special Son of Patricia. However, he did not carry the day as the award went out to Dave Chappelle. He had been hoping to join other winners including Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams

Noah is one of the few celebrities to host the Grammys multiple times

Trevor Noah has hosted the event three consecutive times. According to CBS News, Noah’s return in 2023 to host the show marked the third year he was hosting the show. Only a few hosts have hosted the live Grammy telecast more than three times or more. Others include John Denver, who hosted it six times, and Garry Shandling who hosted it four times from 1990-94. Just like Noah, Billy Crystal, the first comedian to host the show, hosted the show for three years running from 1987-89.
