Sean “Diddy” Combs has taken a temporary leave from his position as chairman of Revolt, his cable television network, amidst multiple sexual abuse allegations against him. Revolt announced on social media, with no set timeline for his return, clarifying that Combs had no active involvement in the network’s day-to-day operations previously.
The network emphasized its commitment to creating culturally significant content and amplifying the voices of Black individuals across the country and the African diaspora in light of this decision. Combs, a founder of Revolt, chose not to elaborate further on the situation, while the network geared up for its upcoming 10th anniversary celebration.
One of the recent allegations came from R&B singer Cassie, who accused Combs of rape and abuse during their on-and-off relationship that spanned years, starting when she was 19 and he was 37 back in 2005. Cassie, whose real name is Cassie Ventura, claimed that Combs assaulted her when she attempted to end their relationship in 2018.
Shortly after Cassie filed the lawsuit, she and Combs settled to their mutual satisfaction.
Other Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Following the settlement between Combs and Ventura, two more women have stepped forward, accusing him of sexual abuse. Both lawsuits were filed just before the expiration of the Adult Survivors Act in New York. It is a law that allows victims of sexual abuse a one-year period to file a civil action, irrespective of the statute of limitations.
These legal filings outline allegations of sexual assault, physical violence, and coerced drugging supposedly committed by Combs in the early 1990s. At that time, he was a talent director, event promoter, and emerging figure in New York City’s hip-hop scene.
Combs vehemently refutes these accusations, claiming that the two women are exploiting the New York law that briefly extended the statute of limitations.
A prominent figure in hip-hop production and leadership over the last three decades, Combs is renowned for founding Bad Boy Records. He has earned three Grammy awards. His collaborations span to top-tier artists such as Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, Usher, Lil Kim, Faith Evans, and 112.
