Ryan Mendes and Kevin Lenini also scored for Cape Verde at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium on Friday. However, this success comes at the expense of heavyweights Ghana, Egypt, and Mozambique. Both Ghana and Egypt must win their upcoming matches against Mozambique and Cape Verde to have a chance at advancing to the knockout stage. Egypt, with two points in two games, can secure progress with a victory. For Ghana, winning may not be enough, as they will also need Egypt to fail to win against Cape Verde. Another slim chance for progress exists if either team makes it to the list of the four third-best-ranked teams.
